Dramatic window treatments took center stage at this year’s Kips Bay New York Show House, where The Shade Store at Kravet helped top designers bring their creative visions to life through inspired, custom creations. Each space told its own story, with window coverings weaving texture, pattern, and color that framed the light beautifully.

J Cohler Mason Design: Layered Window Treatments for Warm, Inviting Spaces
In a richly layered study, Jennifer Cohler of J Cohler Mason Design transformed the space into a sophisticated haven away from the city’s bustle. Using Donghia’s Marula fabric, the window treatments brought warmth and a tactile sense of invitation to the space. “We imagined the room as an intimate, layered retreat where someone could escape the modern world,” says Cohler. “The window is the first thing you notice upon entering the room, and the treatments create a sense of invitation.”

Corey Damen Jenkins & Associates: Elegant Silk Curtains That Transform Any Room
Known for his bold use of color and refined glamour, Corey Damen Jenkins infused his space with elegance using Kravet Silk 4070. “We designed a set of elegant silk window treatments and paired them in teal and topaz for a coordinating scalloped valance,” says Jenkins. “The timeline from couture-like to the elegant whimsy you’ll find throughout the room is delightful.”

Tiffany Skilling Interiors: Romantic Sheers
For the dressing room, Tiffany Skilling embraced a sense of vintage romance. Draped in Kravet Sheer 4903, the tropical-inspired window treatments enhance the ambiance with soft texture and a glow that changes with the light. “In the dressing room, the bespoke window treatments elevate the ambiance with custom cornices covering a warm Kravet trim and sheer paneling,” Skilling noted. “It’s a soft, romantic backdrop.”

Andrea Schumacher Interiors: Tailored Panels with Edge
In a cozy, moody living area, Andrea Schumacher layered Kravet Couture x Altuzarra’s Rhea fabric for window treatments that add polish and warmth. “I feel that window treatments are what truly finish a room,” Schumacher explained. “Those tailored panels of silk with a graphic ethnic accent bring in a sense of cohesiveness and playfulness that balances the moody speakeasy vibe.”
With the help of Kravet and The Shade Store, these designers proved that window treatments are far more than a finishing touch; they are an essential design element that defines a room’s atmosphere and artistry.
